Class Updates for KG/1st Arabic/Qur’an.

This week we introduced the children to the letter Lam. The sound of Lam is just like the letter “L.” The word of the day was Laymoon which means lemon. We passed Laymoon around in the class. We also have many students with the letter Lam in their name and used them as examples by writing their names in Arabic on the board. As always we reviewed the letter with alif, wow, and ya (long vowels) and fatha, duma, kasra (short vowels).

We have now started Surat Al-Nas. Please memorize the first 2 ayahs with your child.

As always, please continue to practice and review previous letters with your child. One hour a week every Sunday is not enough time for any child to master the Arabic alphabet. The homework sent home is designed for our students to work on it every day for a little bit. Repetition is key when learning to recognize letters.

Jazakallhu Khayrun,

Lama Sharaf
