KG/1 Qur’an/Arabic Class Update

This week we introduced the children to the letter Za. We then reviewed Za with alif, wow, and ya (long vowels) and fatha, duma, kasra (short vowels). We also stressed the fact that Za can only connect from the right side. Three other letters previously learned that also follow this rule are Ra, Dal, and Dhal. The words of the day were Zait (oil) and Zaytoon (olive). To engage the children with the word we passed Zaytoon around the room. We also introduced the children to Arba’ah (the number 4).

Please continue to practice and review previous letters with your child. One hour a week every Sunday is not enough time for any child to master the Arabic alphabet. The homework sent home is designed for our students to work on it every day for a little bit. Repetition is key when learning to recognize letters. PLEASE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS BREAK TO REVIEW ALL PREVIOUS LETTERS.

We also only spend fifteen minutes every Sunday reviewing Quran; this is not enough practice. Parents should continue to review surahs with their child to see progress.
