KG/1st Arabic/Qur’an Update
This week we introduced the children to 2 letters: Ain and Ghain. We introduced these two letters as sisters. Ain is a deep ‘aa sound that vibrates from the throat. Ghain is also another throaty letter. The word we taught for Ain is Ain which means eye. The word we learned for Ghain was Ghurab which means crow.
To get the kids excited about the letters and words we gave the children googly eyes, or an Ain. We also created both letters from pipe cleaners. As always we reviewed the letters with alif, wow, and ya (long vowels) and fatha, duma, kasra (short vowels).
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD HAS SURAT AL FALAQ MEMORIZED AS WE WILL BE MOVING ON TO ANOTHER SURAH.
As always, please continue to practice and review previous letters with your child. One hour a week every Sunday is not enough time for any child to master the Arabic alphabet. The homework sent home is designed for our students to work on it every day for a little bit. Repetition is key when learning to recognize letters.
