KG/1st Qur’an/Arabic Class Update

This week we introduced the children to the letter Dad. Dad is a hard “D” sound as opposed to the soft “d” sound Dal creates. We reviewed Dad with alif, wow, and ya (long vowels) and fatha, duma, kasra (short vowels). The word of the day was Dufda’a which means frog. In order to help the students, become acquainted with the new letter, we let students pretend they were frogs and sign along to songs. We also reviewed numbers 1-5 and Surat Al-Falaq. Please make sure your child has the first 4 ayahs memorized.

Please continue practicing the study guide with your child to be prepared for the upcoming test.

As always, please continue to practice and review previous letters with your child. One hour a week every Sunday is not enough time for any child to master the Arabic alphabet. The homework sent home is designed for our students to work on it every day for a little bit. Repetition is key when learning to recognize letters.

Jazakallhu Khayrun,

Lama Sharaf
