KG/1st Qur’an/Arabic Class Update

This week we introduced the children to the letter Ra. We then reviewed Ra with alif, wow, and ya (long vowels) and fatha, duma, kasra (short vowels). We also stressed the fact that Ra can only connect from the right side. Two other letters previously learned that also follow this rule are Dal and Dhal. The word of the day was Rooman or Pomegranate. To engage the children with the word we passed Rooman around the room and showed the children the what the inside of a Rooman looks like.

Please continue to practice and review previous letters with your child. One hour a week every Sunday is not enough time for any child to master the Arabic alphabet. The homework sent home is designed for our students to work on it every day for a little bit. Repetition is key when learning to recognize letters. To ensure the children are doing their work, parents are expected to sign each homework assignment.

We also only spend fifteen minutes every Sunday reviewing Quran; this is not enough practice. Parents should continue to review surahs with their child to see progress.

Jazakallhu Khayrun,

Lama Sharaf
